Yeah im familiar with it all now. Took a good few hours to get the hang of stuff but it's so much better than windows.
Got a virus scanner and a real time anti malware/anti virus. All working fine.
Personally, I've been using Linux for everything for the past 14 or 15 years.

(way better than things like Rufus).
As for AV - arguably you will not need it on your Linux installation/s but as a courtesy to others who are using the more vulnerable OS's it is considered good form and simply polite to at least make the effort. Personally, I choose to use Clam which will work quite nicely with most of the Linux distros that you are likely to come across.
